Question: Who do Purchasing Management professionals interact with most in their position at a firm? (For example, customers, media, employees, etc.)
Answer: Purchasing Management professionals probably interact with more people within an organization than any other profession. The Purchasing professional probably interacts more with vendors and manufacturing than any other area. There is probably a great deal of interaction with customer service and sales because of their dependence on items purchased to support the customer’s needs. Purchasing professionals also require interaction with accounting and finance. Because the purchasing department is spending the organization’s money, accounting is very interested in what the monthly or quarter spend dollars are going to be. In the event there is a physical inventory required, accounting will be interested in the final value of the inventory.
