Question: What tools do Purchasing Management professionals use every day?
Answer: The tools used by a Purchasing management professional will vary depending on the industry. Most professionals will need a computer with access to the internet. If your industry is manufacturing you may use bills of material or blue prints. If your industry sources raw materials such as metals you may need reference manuals to identify the characteristics of the metal you are sourcing. If the professional is a commodity buyer, access to the value of the commodity would be a usable tool. Depending on the type of purchasing being done, some technical manuals may also be used. If the organization holds a quality certification, such as ISO or QS, there could be other required documents used to perform the purchasing task.
