Question: What are the main functions of a Purchasing Management professional?

Answer: The main functions of a Purchasing Management Professional are to ensure that the product needed for the organization to function daily.  These items may include general office supplies, parts to support manufacturing, literature needed by sales and marketing, packing equipment for shipping and receiving, janitorial supplies for maintenance.  A Purchasing Manager may be responsible for managing personnel who perform these functions too.  Another responsibility of the purchasing manager can be to oversee physical inventory.  The Purchasing Management professional may also be responsible for supplying information to executive management to assist in making major decisions in regards to the organization.
