Question: What are employers looking for in a Purchasing Management professional?

Answer: Employers seek people with experience. But if you don’t have a lot of experience, it is good for a candidate to have exposure in the purchasing field.  This exposure can be through education, and certification.  Employers look for people that are knowledgeable about the purchasing function and how it can enhance the organizations ability to be more profitable.  Another asset that is beneficial is knowing how the various areas of the organization are dependent on the purchasing function.  If you are capable of relaying your understanding of how the purchasing function supports other areas of the organization and how you can enhance that function by brining your experience and/or knowledge to the organization.
