Answer: A Purchasing Management professional has the same room for advancement as any other profession. For example, larger organizations may have a position as high as a Vice President of Purchasing and supply chain or a Director of Purchasing. The critical factors of an organization that a Vice President of Purchasing and supply chain would be responsible for would include, organizing the department to function as a strategic department. This function would constantly look at areas to improve the organizations processes and procedures. This function would serve at the same level as any other executive within the organization; positions such as Vice President of manufacturing and Vice President of sales.
