Question: Is it important to get an internship in the Purchasing Management industry before applying for a larger position?

Answer: Internships are good to get if you have no experience in the area you are trying to enter. They are also beneficial if you have been out of the job market for an extended period of time and are looking to reenter.  Having credentials that show you are ready for a position of more responsibility are more important.  Gaining credentials such as the Purchasing Management Expert certification gained through GTC Institute at www.businesstraining.com  would be beneficial. Obtaining a professional certification reveals to potential employers that you have invested time and money in professional training in the field of purchasing management.
