Question: If Purchasing Management professional works as a consultant, do they have to have their own firm?
Answer: There are two ways in which a purchasing management serves as a consultant. First they can be an independent contractor. That is a single person that can either serve onsite of the customer or they can supply their services virtually. That is from their own office, usually a home office. Second, the purchasing management consultant can be from a firm. This way is not as popular as the independent contractor. It can also be more costly for the organization that is hiring the consultant. A virtual Purchasing Management consultant is a fairly new concept. Most companies prefer to have their purchasing consultant present on site.
