Question: Are there different kinds of Purchasing Management job titles?

Answer: Yes, there are different kinds of Purchasing Management job titles.  Some of the various titles that identify a Purchasing Management are Procurement Manager, Sourcing Manager, and Materials Manager.  Sometimes the title of a Purchasing Management professional will vary by industry.  The titles are not always a good representative of the responsibilities.  There are many professionals carrying the purchasing management title that never issue a purchase order.  Their function is to manage the people and tasks in the purchasing department.  A materials manager, for instance, may manage the flow and schedule of the material coming into for plant to support the production functions. Purchasing is a vast field with many opportunities and many responsibilities.
