Question: Are professionals in the Purchasing Management industry more successful as a consultant with their own firm, or do they find more success in a bigger firm?

Answer: I think all of this depends on the Professional, their career ambitions, and the area of knowledge.  Of course there are advantages to both scenarios.  The consultant with their own firm has to understand what it takes to successfully manage a firm and well as what it takes to be an asset to their customers.  There are areas such as sales and marketing, human resources and accounting that will be their responsibility along with managing the organization which will take time away from the purchasing function.  If the person is working for another firm or organization, they only have to concentrate on the Purchasing Management aspect of the business.
